GGTM Welcomes Litigator Daniel R. Olson To Its Team
Daniel R. Olson has joined Gielow Groom Terpstra & McEvoy (“GGTM”), adding strength and experience to the firm’s growing legal team. Dan brings the number of attorneys now practicing at GGTM to seven and also brings with him 15 years’ experience as a general litigator, having handled cases from the local district court to the U.S. Supreme Court.
Dan’s unique background and experience are valuable assets to GGTM and its clients. After graduating summa cum laude from Michigan State University, Detroit College of Law, in 2002, Dan spent two years as a clerk for Justice Stephen J. Markman (now Chief Justice) of the Michigan Supreme Court. During his two-year clerkship, Dan played an integral role in advising and assisting Justice Markman regarding decisions on a wide variety of criminal and civil cases that came before the Court during that time. At the conclusion of his clerkship, Dan honed his litigation skills at large law firms in the Grand Rapids area, first practicing in the area of insurance defense, and then as a general litigator, where he practiced in state and federal courts throughout Michigan. Dan has successfully represented plaintiffs and defendants in personal injury cases and in contested probate matters, including will contests and conservatorship and guardianship proceedings. Dan has also successfully represented corporations, family-owned businesses, and individuals from a range of industries, including finance, technology, construction, medical, real estate, and manufacturing.
Dan is a member of the Grand Rapids Bar Association and the Muskegon County Bar Association.
Dan and his wife Julie (nee Cress) are lifelong residents of Norton Shores, where they live with their daughter, Andie, and son, Austin. Dan is active in the community, serving on the board of the Mona Lake Improvement Association, and as Vice-Chair of the Norton Shores Planning Commission. He is also the President of the Michigan Chapter of Safari Club International and serves on the board and several committees of Safari Club International. Additionally, since 2005, Dan has volunteered as a Reserve Police Officer for the Grand Haven Department of Public Safety.
