1 min read

On Feb. 1, 2013, the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) announced the availability of funds to support projects that develop new or increased uses for scrap tires.

Application can be made for grants to reimburse up to 50% of the cost to purchase scrap tires in order to support the development of new uses and increased markets for scrap tires, as well as up to 50% of the cost of purchasing equipment for this research and development.  Funding comes from the Scrap Tire Market Development Grant Program.

The DEQ is accepting Letters of Interest that are postmarked on or before February 15, 2013. An approved Letter of Interest must be submitted before submitting a full application.  Letters of Interest can only be submitted via mail (i.e., no emailing or faxing will be accepted).

Letters of Interest forms and applications packets can be obtained by contacting: Scrap Tire Regulatory Program, Office of Waste Management and Radiological Protection, Department of Environmental Quality, P.O. Box 30241, Lansing, MI 48909-7741
