The National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP) program for asbestos is implemented in Michigan by the Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE), Air Quality Division.  The purpose of the program is to minimize the release of asbestos fibers into the environment during demolition and renovation projects.  Specific notification procedures to the EGLEmust be followed prior to renovation or demolition to ensure that the appropriate evaluations have been made and precautions taken to minimize the emission of asbestos to the environment.

We have worked on behalf of our clients to help ensure that contractors are in compliance with the appropriate notification and procedural requirements.  We have worked with contractors facing civil fines or criminal sanctions for improper removal or disposal actions.  Should you be contemplating a demolition or renovation project or need help resolving violations of the asbestos NESHAP regulations, please give us a call.
