The RCRA Corrective Action Program is implemented primarily through permits and orders under the federal Hazardous and Solid Waste Act of 1984.  The federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and individual states are responsible for implementing the RCRA Corrective Action Program.  EPA has delegated RCRA Corrective Action oversight authority to the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE), and this program is implemented by the EGLE’s Waste Management and Radiological Protection Division.  The RCRA Corrective Action Program requires the investigation and cleanup of releases of hazardous wastes and hazardous constituents that pose a risk to human health and the environment from RCRA hazardous waste treatment, storage, and disposal facilities (TSDFs).
