Nic concentrates his practice in the areas of real estate and corporate law. He provides clients of Gielow Groom Terpstra & McEvoy with practical advice on various legal issues affecting businesses and entrepreneurs.

Experience

With more than a decade of working closely with clients as an attorney in Grand Rapids and Muskegon, Nic has extensive experience in counseling businesses and individuals in real estate and corporate matters. In his real estate practice, Nic represents businesses and individuals in a wide variety of matters, including acquisition, sales, leasing, financing, construction, condominium, alternative energy, and zoning matters. In his corporate practice, Nic assists clients in the sale and acquisition of businesses, and he also regularly advises clients on governance, contracts, and other general corporate matters.

  • Assisted entrepreneurs and businesses in organizational planning and forming new business entities and the acquisition and disposition of assets and real estate.
  • Counsel to for-profit and non-profit companies in negotiating business contracts and advising on corporate governance issues.
  • Represented landlords and tenants in the lease of office, industrial, retail and medical spaces.
  • Assisted developers and entrepreneurs in the acquisition, development and sale of commercial, industrial, office, medical, and residential properties.
  • Counsel to developers in connection with the creation, development and operation of numerous condominium projects, including residential, commercial, industrial, medical, and mixed-use projects.
  • Counsel to condominium associations in addressing master deed, bylaws, real estate, and corporate matters.
  • Represented large furniture manufacturer in the sale and lease of multiple complex properties.
  • Represented property owner in a complex ground lease involving the construction and development of a 15-story mixed-use tower and a 12-story hotel tower.
  • Counsel to property owners and contractors in the preparation and negotiation of several complex design and construction contracts.
  • Counsel to individuals and businesses in the preparation and negotiation of easement agreements, license agreements, and other general real estate agreements.
  • Assisted individuals and business in several land division, boundary adjustments, and other zoning and land use matters.
  • Counsel to borrowers and lenders in the preparation and negotiation of loan agreements and related financing documents.
