National Estate Planning Awareness Week

1 min read

An estimated 55% of Americans die without a will or an estate plan, according to information published by the American Bar Association (ABA). Worse yet, those who have been lured by the low-cost and seemingly simple do-it-yourself estate planning packages, may find that a do-it-yourself plan can have worse consequences than no plan at all. To help inform and better equip the public, the ABA has established October 19-25 as National Estate Planning Awareness Week.

As part of its educational initiative, the ABA will offer a free webinar entitled, “Estate Planning: How to Get Going and Why Not to Do It Yourself,” on Thursday, October 23, at 1 p.m. (EDT). The webinar is intended for the general public with no legal background. Interested persons can sign up online at www.estateplanhelp.org.

The ABA encourages anyone without an estate plan to contact a knowledgeable attorney who can provide professional counsel tailored to one’s individual needs.
