At MUSTA’s January 19, 2016 meeting in Lansing, a decision was made to extend the Underground Storage Tank (UST) Cleanup Fund deductible buy-down deadline from January 31, 2016 to March 31, 2016.
Part 215 of Michigan’s Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act (NREPA), Section 21510a(b) allows an eligible UST owner or operator with fewer than eight refined petroleum USTs to buy-down the $50,000 deductible to $15,000 per claim by submitting a properly completed application and an annual fee of $500 per tank. According to the information provided at MUSTA’s January 19 meeting, fewer than 25 entities have submitted the necessary Claim Deductible Buy-Down Application and appropriate fees.
